Walk into a great hotel and the first thing you notice often isn't the chandelier or the marble. It's the scent. That signature fragrance is a deliberate design choice, and this holiday season, more home fragrance brands are bottling that sense of arrival for the rest of us.
Two recent launches capture the mood. Here's what they tell us about scent this season, and how to borrow a little hospitality thinking for your own home.
The hotel lobby, reimagined for winter
Hotel Lobby Candle, a brand built around recreating the signature scents of five-star hotels, released its Alpine Holiday collection on October 22, as reported by Parade. Each scent is designed to evoke a winter escape. Fresh Snow layers powdered snow, velvet magnolia, jasmine sambac, white suede and warm musk. Après Ski brings mountain air, cashmeran, tonka bean, vanilla bourbon and embers. A returning favourite, Holiday, leans into evergreen, fresh pine, balsam fir and blue spruce.
Meanwhile, the House of Creed unveiled a Holiday 2026 collection inspired by entertaining traditions and set against an Art Deco residence. Alongside its perfumes, the release includes porcelain scented candles, a limited-edition Smoked Wood & Incense reed diffuser embellished with 18-karat gold, and ceramic scented ornaments.
The common thread is clear: holiday fragrance is being framed less as a single candle on the coffee table and more as a way to set the scene for gathering.
Think in notes, not just in "holiday"

Look closely at these launches and you'll notice they aren't relying only on cinnamon and cookies. The palette is broader: clean, airy notes like snow and mountain air; soft florals such as magnolia and jasmine; cosy, skin-like textures like suede and musk; and warm, smoky depth from embers, woods and incense.
That range is useful when scenting a home. Lighter, fresher notes can keep an entryway feeling open and welcoming, while warmer, smokier blends suit rooms where people linger after dinner. Evergreen notes connect naturally with fresh garlands and a tree, so they can feel right in the living room without competing with the real thing.
Our four signature scents, Cypress Soirée, Glasshouse, Apricity and Belle Bonnet, each come across candles, diffuser oils and bath and body, so it's easy to carry one scent from room to room.
Scent your home like a hotel

The best hotels treat scent as a journey through a space. You can do the same at home with a few simple principles. (For more on the idea, see How to Make Your Home Smell Like a Luxury Hotel.)
Start at the door. The entry sets the first impression. A Forme Cordless Diffuser on the console or The Everyday Scent Loop hung nearby offers a gentle, steady presence that doesn't need attention when guests arrive.
Let each room have a role. Choose something fresh and clean for the kitchen and powder room, something warm and enveloping for the living and dining areas, and something soft and quiet for guest rooms. A matching hand soap by the powder room sink is a small, hotel-like touch guests notice.
Keep the dining table neutral. Strongly scented candles can compete with food. Save fragrance for the sideboard or nearby rooms, and use unscented candles on the table itself.
Layer gently. Choose scents that share a common note, such as woods or musk, so moving from room to room feels cohesive rather than crowded.
Fragrance as part of the decor
Scented objects are also design objects. A candle vessel, a sculptural diffuser or a scented ornament adds texture and form to a shelf or mantel even when unlit. Choose vessels that suit your interior's materials and palette, and they'll look as considered as the rest of your styling. Our Forme Candle and Candle Discovery Set were designed with exactly that in mind.
As always, practise safe candle care: never leave a lit flame unattended, keep candles away from greenery, curtains and drafts, and trim wicks before relighting.
A warmer welcome this season

The most memorable holiday homes aren't necessarily the most decorated. They're the ones that feel thoughtfully prepared, where light, texture and scent work together to say "we're glad you're here." Borrowing a page from the hospitality world is a lovely way to get there.
If you're searching for the right fragrance for your home, or a gift for someone who loves theirs, our Forme Fragrance collection was created with exactly this kind of room-by-room thinking in mind.
